Are you looking for Lower Mill
Estate?
Note that the holiday estate is
not in the village, but to the
south of the Spine Road. There
is no direct road out of the
village to the estate.
Clear directions are given here.
Warning, your SATNAV should
not be trusted, unless it accepts
a full 6 digit postcode, in which
case you should use that given
on your rental instructions, as
experience shows that many
people using satnav arrive in
the village and wonder why
they cannot find their holiday
home.

Lake numbers
Why numbers? Originally devised to enable
emergency services to find where help is needed. Still
quite useful to describe where you are talking about.

The Newspaper story
We have no shops and only one
pub. Have you thought about how
your newspaper arrives? Once
upon a time we did have a shop,
where the “Old Post Office” is
now. When it closed Gill Abbots-
Darbyshire took on the papers. At
that time her husband was
licensee of the Bakers Arms.
When they left the pub, the
Village Hall stepped in to provide
a home for delivery. Over the
years the numbers of young
people has fluctuated. We
currently have several paper
boys/girls who do the delivery, but
in the past and perhaps the
future, volunteers have also
delivered.
Volunteers do the marking up on
Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays
to give Gill a break. Nicky Paton
861634 currently organises the
rota. With enough volunteers an
early rise is not required very
often. We are looking for more
helpers- those of you who are still
working are very welcome to do
Sundays only. All payments due
to the volunteers go to charity, the
charities are changed from time
to time.
If you want papers delivered, ring
Gill. If you would like to volunteer
for markup duties, ring Nicky.
Thanks.
