Somerford Keynes Bowls Club This short-mat club meets on Thursday evenings for informal games, and is part of the County Winter league. League matches are often held on Sunday afternoons. At present we have a few vacancies, though the numbers are limited, so that everyone has a reasonable time to play on club evenings. All ages are welcome. If you know nothing about bowls or are already a good player, we would like you to come and join us. Please phone our chairman, Des Sheen on 860469. Bridge Clubs There are two bridge clubs that are quite different. Tuesday Bridge is a friendly affair where you can learn the basics of duplicate bridge, and is a good starting place if you have recently learnt bridge or if you just want a friendly evening without the other team breathing down your neck about the rules. Tuesday Bridge is short of players, so we welcome new players of any standard. We meet in the village hall at 7.15pm and finish before 10pm. There is no membership fee and only £1 per person per evening. Contact is Muriel Watkins 861614. Wednesday Bridge is a more formal affair, and you need to be reasonably competent, but don’t worry if you are not an expert. You will not get eaten. There is the opportunity to play in simultaneous EBU events and earn points, but no pressure for you to do so. There is a membership fee and a small charge per evening. Contact Mary Harris 861222.
